RESTORATION OF THE ‘TETTOIA DEL COKE’ AND NEW BUILDING FOR OFFICE USE

Bologna, Italy

The “Canopy Coke”, built in the late 19th century by a pupil of the Eng. Eiffel, was part of the “Gas Company of Bologna”, the first municipal company in Italy. In origin, in the production cycle for the extraction of gas from coal it was used for the storage of the coke. The building is made of iron lattice beams and pillars, some of them very compromised by corrosion. The project involves the restoration of the building, replacing the parts that can not be recovered with identical profiles, and the subsequent creation of a three stories high “container” for office use, endowed with a special glass curtain wall, under the historical canopy. Executive project.
